How much is a taxi from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi?
฿2,000 by sedan, ฿2,300 by SUV and ฿2,800 by van, per car, one way. The price is the same from a Bangkok hotel, Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang, and expressway tolls are included. Pick-ups or drop-offs on the Thonburi side of Bangkok, west of the river, add ฿100–200.
How long is the drive?
About 2–2.5 hours from central Bangkok or Don Mueang (130–135 km) and 2.5–3 hours from Suvarnabhumi (155 km). Friday afternoons are slower.
Where does the driver meet me at the airport?
At Suvarnabhumi on Level 4 (Departures) at Gate 4, and at Don Mueang on Level 3 (Departures). The first 60 minutes of waiting are free, counted from when you land.
Is there a train instead?
Yes, twice a day from Bangkok's Thonburi station, about 3 hours, third class with fans. It is a good ride but it stops at Kanchanaburi station, not your hotel, and nothing runs from either airport.
How do I pay?
In Thai baht, in cash, to the driver at the end of the ride. Nothing is charged when you book and there is no deposit. If you can only pay by card, for example because you have not changed money yet, message us on WhatsApp or LINE and we send a PayPal payment link; a 5% fee is added.
